Roe Valley Resort enters next phase of transformation with new bar and family attractions now open

Leaping Hound bar and new two-storey soft play area welcome first guests as part of the resort's £20 million transformation.

At the heart of the resort, Leaping Hound has opened its doors, offering a welcoming new setting for everything from casual lunches and afternoon drinks to lively evenings with family and friends. Inspired by the legendary 'Dog's Leap', from which Limavady takes its name, the new bar combines a relaxed atmosphere with a carefully curated food and drinks offering, complemented by regular live music every weekend.

Designed with younger adventurers in mind, a new two-storey soft play centre is also now open, offering an exciting indoor space where children can climb, slide and explore, whatever the weather. Whether you are staying the night or just popping in to experience the kids’ facilities, the colourful play area has been created for children under eight, with plenty of opportunities for little ones to burn off energy, while parents and guardians can relax in comfortable seating overlooking the play zones with refreshments close at hand.

Alongside the new family and leisure attractions, Roe Valley Resort has also welcomed guests to Mussenden Lodge, a luxury four-bedroom self-catering property overlooking Lough Foyle and Binevenagh. Sleeping up to eight guests and complete with an outdoor hot tub, the new accommodation provides an ideal base for family celebrations, golf breaks, and group getaways in the North West.

The latest openings build on significant investment already delivered across the resort, including a Helter Skelter, adventure playground, arcade, pool slides and the opening of Fratelli, the resort’s popular Italian restaurant. With family pool passes and day passes available, visitors can enjoy the resort’s facilities on a day-visit basis, making it an ideal destination for families in the local area.

Let's Meet Victoria | Golf & Leisure Membership Manager

1. Tell us a little about yourself and your journey to becoming our Golf & Leisure Membership Manager.

I have been involved in golf for most of my life. I turned professional at the age of 19 and competed on both the Ladies European Tour and the WPGA Tour of Australasia. While playing full-time professionally, I completed a degree in Business and Management, reflecting my long-standing interest in the business side of the sport. I began my career with The Collection on reception at Galgorm Hotel, which provided me with valuable experience in customer service and hospitality. When the opportunity arose to move into my current role, I was excited to combine my extensive golf experience with a new challenge on the business side of the industry. The leisure aspect of the role was also something new to me, and I was eager for the challenge.

2. What does a typical day in your role look like?

A typical day in my role as Golf and Leisure Memberships Manager can be difficult to define, as there is a great deal of variety from day to day. One of the aspects I enjoy most about the role is the opportunity to be involved in the entire membership journey. For new members, I am there from the very early stages of enquiry, guiding them through the membership options, supporting them through the joining process, and continuing to be a point of contact throughout their membership experience. My role involves building strong relationships with members, ensuring they receive a high level of service and value from their membership. I work closely with various departments across the resort to enhance the member experience, address any queries or feedback, and develop initiatives that encourage engagement and retention. The diversity of the role means that no two days are ever the same, which makes it both challenging and rewarding.

3. What do you enjoy most about working for Galgorm Collection?

What I enjoy most about working for Galgorm Collection is the people. I have the opportunity to interact with members every day, build strong relationships, and play a part in ensuring they have a positive experience throughout their membership journey. It is very rewarding to see members enjoying the facilities and feeling part of the community we have created. I also enjoy the variety that the role offers. No two days are the same, and I am involved in many different aspects of the business, from welcoming prospective members and managing membership enquiries to organising member events and working closely with other departments across the resort. Having come from a professional golfing background, I particularly enjoy being able to combine my passion for golf with the business side of the industry. Galgorm Collection has given me the opportunity to grow professionally, develop new skills, and broaden my knowledge beyond golf into the leisure and hospitality sectors. Being part of a company that is continually evolving and striving to deliver exceptional experiences for its guests and members makes it an exciting place to work.

4. What makes our Golf & Leisure memberships special for both families and adult members?

What makes our Golf & Leisure memberships special is the sense of community they offer. Members have access to exceptional facilities across both golf and leisure, allowing them to enjoy a lifestyle membership rather than just a golf or gym membership. For families, our memberships provide opportunities to spend quality time together through access to the leisure facilities, family-friendly events, and activities. It creates a welcoming environment where families can make the most of their membership throughout the year. For golf members, there is a strong social aspect, whether that is through golf competitions, member events, or simply enjoying the facilities and connecting with other members. What truly sets Galgorm Collection apart is the quality of the experience. Members are part of a premium resort environment and benefit from outstanding facilities, excellent service, and a team that is committed to ensuring they get the most from their membership. Our focus is on creating a welcoming community where members feel valued and can enjoy everything Galgorm Collection has to offer.

5. If you could describe the resort in three words, what would they be?

Exceptional, welcoming and connected

6. What would you say to someone who's thinking about becoming a member but isn't sure where to start?

I would encourage anyone considering a membership at Galgorm Collection to simply get in touch and arrange a visit. The best way to understand what makes our memberships special is to experience the facilities, atmosphere, and community for yourself. I understand that choosing the right membership is an important decision, and with a range of options available, it can sometimes feel difficult to know where to start. My role is to make that process as straightforward and enjoyable as possible. I take the time to understand what each individual or family is looking for and help them find the membership that best suits their lifestyle and needs. Whether someone is interested in golf, leisure, fitness, family activities, or a combination of everything we offer, I am there to guide them through the options, answer any questions, and show them how they can make the most of their membership. There is no pressure—just an opportunity to explore what Galgorm Collection has to offer and see if it feels like the right fit. Ultimately, becoming a member is about more than access to great facilities; it's about joining a welcoming community and becoming part of the Galgorm Collection experience

7. Without giving too much away, can you give us a sneak peek at what's coming up for our membership community?

Without giving too much away, this is a very exciting time for our membership community, particularly for our golf members and what is on the horizon. We are always looking at new ways to enhance the member experience and continue adding value to what we offer as part of the wider Galgorm Collection experience. Our focus is always on creating opportunities for members to get even more from their membership, whether that's through new experiences, exclusive events, or exciting developments across our golf and leisure facilities. We want our members to feel that they are part of something special and constantly evolving. While I can't reveal all the details just yet, I can say that there is plenty to look forward to. It is an exciting time to be a member, and I am looking forward to sharing more updates as they are announced. Stay tuned!

8. What's been one of your proudest or most memorable moments since joining the resort?

My proudest and most memorable moment since joining the resort has definitely been being involved in the Women's Get Into Golf Clinics at Galgorm Castle Golf Club. Having the opportunity to be part of the women’s journey into golf and watching their skills, confidence, and enjoyment of the game grow week after week was incredibly rewarding and inspiring. As someone who has spent most of my life in golf, I was proud to play a small part in encouraging more women to get involved in the sport. It was a privilege to share my own experiences from playing professionally and, hopefully, inspire others to step outside their comfort zones and discover a passion for golf. What surprised me most, however, was the impact the group had on me. Seeing their enthusiasm, determination, and willingness to learn reminded me of why I fell in love with the game in the first place. While I hope I inspired them along the way, I honestly think I came away from the experience feeling even more inspired by them. It was a fantastic reminder of the positive impact golf can have on people's confidence, wellbeing, and sense of community.

9. In three words, how would you describe our membership community?

Welcoming, connected and inclusive

10. Tell us something about yourself that might surprise your colleagues…

Something that might surprise my colleagues is that despite playing golf professionally around the world, some of my proudest moments in golf haven't come from my own achievements—they've come from helping others discover the game and build their confidence through initiatives like our Women's Get Into Golf Clinics.

Galgorm Collection advances £20m Roe Valley Resort transformation plan

Major new developments set to launch this summer as part of multi-million-pound renovation programme

Galgorm Collection has unveiled the latest phase of its ambitious £20m transformation programme for Roe Valley Resort in Limavady, announcing a series of new and significant developments for the landmark North West destination.

Galgorm Collection acquired Roe Valley Resort in November 2024 as part of a landmark £50 million investment which also included Galgorm Castle Estate, alongside a wider multi-million-pound commitment to enhance both properties over the coming years.

The hospitality group is now introducing a series of new accommodation, leisure and family-focused experiences across the estate. The latest additions build on significant investment already delivered, including a Helter Skelter, adventure playground, arcade, and new Italian dining restaurant, Fratelli.

Among the suite of new additions launching this summer, Galgorm Collection is introducing Mussenden Lodge, a new £1 million standalone accommodation offering located approximately seven miles from Roe Valley Resort. The four-bedroom property, with stunning views over Lough Foyle and Binevenagh, will accommodate up to eight guests and provide a premium, private retreat option within the wider Roe Valley experience, complete with an outdoor hot tub and complimentary access to the resort’s swimming pool.

Galgorm Collection unveils plans to create Northern Ireland’s first championship links golf course in over 100 years in £30m investment

New links course at Bellarena will cement Northern Ireland’s global reputation as a world class golfing destination

Northern Ireland’s premier luxury hospitality group Galgorm Collection today unveiled plans to invest more than £30 million to create a new, landmark links golf course at Bellarena on the region’s stunning north west coast.

The company, which owns and runs the championship parkland course at Galgorm Castle in Ballymena and the wonderfully scenic Roe Valley course in Limavady, said its plans would create the first championship links course in Northern Ireland in over 100 years and help to cement the region’s reputation as a world class golfing destination.

Home to 2025 Masters champion and Grand Slam winner Rory McIlroy, Northern Ireland is already a renowned location for some of the world’s most iconic golf courses, and this month plays host to The 153rd Open Championship at Royal Portrush.

Galgorm said its plans to develop a new 18-hole links course at Bellarena – located between Portrush and Limavady within the stunning Causeway Coast and Glens area around 30 minutes’ drive from the City of Derry and its adjacent airport – will help create new local jobs and act as a major catalyst for further tourism investment in the north west.

Subject to planning approval, Galgorm Collection said development of Bellarena Golf Links will start next year and open in 2029, bringing its total investment in the north west to around £65 million and an additional 300 jobs created.

Last year, the group acquired the nearby Roe Park Resort in Limavady and Galgorm Castle Estate in Ballymena as part of a landmark £50 million investment. It is currently investing a further £22 million in the now newly-named Roe Valley Resort and its own award-winning 18-hole golf course.

Research conducted by Sporting Insights for Tourism Northern Ireland’s annual Golf Tourism Monitor last year showed the golfing sector’s value had risen by almost 66 percent since 2019, when The 148th Open was held at Royal Portrush. Its value has also more than doubled in the past decade, from £33.2 million in 2014. On average, golfers spend around nine days on their visit to Northern Ireland, playing five rounds on different courses during their stay.
